Now wait a minute, if you're not part of a group, don't worry. Families, individuals, even pets, find it easy to get around D.C. on their own. Several resources, listed to the right, will aid in your pursuit of the perfect outing to Washington, D.C. Mostly you need a well-located hotel and access to Washington's fine subway system for a successful trip. Some comfortable shoes help too. Most of Washington's sites are concentrated near the National Mall (location of Washington Monument, a fine landmark by which to navigate). Hotels in this area can be expensive, but one excellent source for hotel rates is Washington DC accommodations, a hotel broker which lists hotels by category and neighborhood, etc. One good neighborhood is Foggy Bottom or West End of D.C., which is home to Foggy Bottom metro stop, George Washington U., the Kennedy Center, and within easy walking distance of Georgetown. Getting around can be as easy as using the subway or you may want to get your bearings by taking an orientation tour with Tourmobile or Old Town Trolley. These are only suggestions; the final choices are up to you--enjoy your stay. |
